Dear Friends,

Our organization the World Barua Organization is an apolitical forum created to help the rights of the Barua People around the world and more specifically help us maintain our identity and our cultural heritage despite the geographical divisions imposed on us by various political events.

We have several goals and objectives defined during our first World Barua Conference held in Italy in 2001 and in particular:

  • To provide and disseminate information thanks to various publications and through the media;

  •  To offer a forum for discussions on current issues directly relevant to us and bring attention at the national and international levels on the disparities and inequalities that require adjustment in the interest of our human rights.

  • To support a research program that will enable accurate data to be compiled for the purpose of providing a critical mass of information in support of written submissions being presented in international fora;
  • To stimulate and facilitate contacts between Barua communities around the world so as to gain knowledge of, and also transfer support for, initiatives of enduring value that allow people to achieve their full potential in the fields of education and healthy living, technical development, economic development and intellectual property management;

  •  To provide a forum for women to bring their particular concerns to the discussion and  Planning process of direct interest to them;

  • To plan strategically to engage in all such activities with timeframes for completion and frequent evaluation as to progress.
Considering your own commitment in the field of human rights we are hoping that you will be able to help us reach one or several of our objectives. Please note that we do not request any financial support but rather selective help for our communities in the world.

We will be very happy to give you further information about us and in the meantime are inviting you to visit our web sitewww.worldbarua.org.

We are looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Sanjoy Ratan Barua

Excellency
Honorable Dr. Dipu Moni
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh

Subject:   Request for cemetery site in Dhaka.

Dear Sir/ Madam

It is with great pleasure that we write to congratulate you and your government on your work in making Bangladesh a great country.

We are proud to be citizens of Bangladesh and are committed to working hard to contribute to its success.

We would like to make a request of you. At this current time, there is a sizeable minority of Buddhist people who are living and working in Dhaka. These people come mostly from the Chittagong district. When any members of Buddhist Community die, the families are forced to return their bodies back from Dhaka to their own home districts for final resting in cemeteries there.

We would like to improve upon this situation and create a cemetery for Buddhist people in Dhaka. Therefore, we are requesting from you, permission to have a small piece of land set aside for this very purpose. The Buddhist community in Dhaka made this request originally some time ago to the Religious Ministry, however no progress was made. Therefore we would greatly appreciate any such assistance that you can offer us to expedite this matter and bring it to a successful resolution.

May we end by wishing you and your government continuing success in all your Endeavour’s to improve the wellbeing of all people in Bangladesh.

Yours sincerely,

Sanjoy Ratan Barua
